Today Almaty hosted a round table on the theme "Prospects of development of alternative services and the social integration of citizens with impaired mental health in the Republic of Kazakhstan", organized by PF "Aman-saulyk" in partnership with the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the RK (further – MHSD RK), with the financial support of Soros Foundation Kazakhstan.
In the event was attended by representatives of the MHSD RK, local Executive bodies, medical Universities and colleges, international organizations and foundations, medical and social NGO and the relatives of the patients with mental disorders.
The social integration of people with mental disorders is relevant in the world. Discrimination and stigmatization of people with mental health problems are the most significant problems in the field of mental health, struggle against them is one of the priorities of the world health organization and World Psychiatric Association.
Opening the meeting, President PF "Aman-saulyk" Bakhyt Tumenova reminded that last year in five regions of Kazakhstan public hearings were held to increase the awareness of citizens on issues of social integration in society of people with mental health disorders. In addition, held analysis of the effectiveness of the existing mechanisms of social assistance in the framework of the medical-social institutions for disabled persons with mental illness and provided recommendations to improve state policy in the sphere of social assistance to the disabled and the development of alternative approaches in providing assistance.
"However, the analysis carried out regional public hearings confirmed the low awareness of patients, their relatives and the entire society in the issues of the rights of citizens with mental health disorders," - Bakhyt Tumenova said.
In the framework of the round table were discussed the issues of competitiveness and relevance of social NGO consumers of their services, data compliance of NGO to the international standards, their funding etc.
We will remind, since 2008 in Kazakhstan began work on the development and implementation of special social services (further - SSS). One of the important task was the development of a network of organizations, providing SSS. During this period their number increased by 35%, from 592 organizations in 2008 to 797 organisations in 2015. Social support of NGO that provide special services held through the state social order and international grants.
